As Wings Bloom is a 2D casual PC game developed during a Game Jam event. In this project, my team and I worked together to craft an engaging story and immersive gameplay experience within a limited timeframe.
The game follows the journey of a small bird, whose egg is blown out of its nest by a powerful storm. After hatching, the bird embarks on an adventure, facing various challenges before ultimately returning home to reunite with its mother.
Since our team consists of five international students from different Asian countries, we incorporated many Asian cultural elements into the game’s design and artwork. One of the most symbolic touches in our game is inspired by the Chinese legend of the carp leaping over the dragon gate. In our version, the young bird flies through a torii gate—a traditional Japanese structure believed to mark the boundary between the human and divine realms—before undergoing a final transformation into a phoenix.
Due to the 48-hour development time limit, many aspects of the game still need improvement. We plan to refine the artwork and optimize the program framework before officially releasing it. Stay tuned!
